Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has ever networked 2 CPN series MFD's before in an outdoor installation? I need to help a customer network his 2 displays where one is inside and the is at the back outdoor station. I know that it's a standard RJ45 crossover cable as per the manual, but according to S/H they "never got around" to making a proper cable that has a waterproof boot on the end, even tho there is threads on the unit itself for it so it was a consideration at least in development. I'm wondering if some other brand uses a similar thread on theirs that may be used in this case, or if someone knows of a good rubber boot that may be adapted for the job.

Seacom, there are lots of "waterproof" Ethernet connectors that use the RJ45 type plug with a screw on protective boot. Garmin and Furuno use them now, Raymarine used to, and I've seen similar in industrial catalogs. Some detail here:
