I just purchased a used Geonav G12 (software says updated in 2011) on Ebay. It is/was a showroom model, and it is in perfect cosmetic condition. I do believe it is not entirely functional, and am looking for advice before I attempt to initiate an attempt to return it. The unit does boot, splash screen looks OK, so the display works. Once booted, can go through some menus. There is no SD chart card in it, and I'm wondering from anyones experience, is a cartography card required for the unit to at least work properly? I don't want to drop ~200 dollars on a non returnable product to find out.

Dave, an MFD shouldn't need a chart card to work, though typically only a large area base map will be available on the chart plotting screen.
