Furuno DRS4W and Nobletec app confusion

    I have ;
    iPad 2 ..wifi only
    Bad elf external GPS
    Furuno DRS4W radar
    Nobletec TZ app

    In reading the documentation I'm confused....
    If I only want to overlay the Nobeltec TZ app with DRS4W radar output do I also need to buy a NMEA 0183 multiplexer??... I don't need any other capabilities such as AIS targeting etc..

    Hi Bill, As I understand it, the Nobeltec TZ V2 app will do DRS4W radar overlay without an external Heading source, but Nobeltec "recommends" setting up such a source. Here's my latest on the subject:

    I think that what you'll see is pretty good overlay when you're moving but when you're stopped or going very slow the COG may vary from Heading quite a lot and the overlay will then get screwy.
