I am still wavering back and forth about my next expansion of my TZT network.
I have built the AIS, Radar, Sounder to my satisfaction. I am not content with the display size at the helm. I have a TZT9" that makes it difficult for my poor vision to split the screen for radar and navigation.
I feel like I have a few options:
1) External touch screen monitor, I am concerned that the scaling will distort the display as it is almost impossible to find a native 800x600 resoluition monitor. I don't need a daylight readable/rugged monitor. I believe I can buy a 21-23" monitor for less than $500
2) Purchase a new TZT2 or TZT plotter for $4k. This adds redundancy to the system.
3) Add a laptop or all in one PC running MaxSea Timezero with radar, sounder and PBG. $3-4k depending on the quality of the PC. Redundancy and expanded capability (PBG) HUGE monitor and ability to look at routes/plan trips from home
4) Wait for the iPad Pro 12.9" to mirror the TZT9" Supposed to be announced this week
5) Run TimeZero on a Surface tablet. I don't see this as being any better than a larger all in one PC.
Any feedback/thoughts?
Great to have so many choices, but also tough decision!
Got to say the new iPad Pro looks wicked powerful:

I'm not sure I'd mirror the TZT, though. How about running the TZ app as your main charting screen while the TZT9 handles radar and sounder? Eventually you'll be able to sync routes both ways for nav redundancy.
I had mentioned mirroring as I find it difficult to see the details on the split nav/radar screen. However if I were to run the TZT app on the ipad and only run radar on the plotter that might be a solution as well.
I haven't tried as I only have one iPad capable of the run the TZT Furuno application, can two iPads mirror at the same time? It would be nice for my kids/wife to watch as well.
The 12.9" ipad pro released today seems like the ticket for now. I am really nerding out over a 21-23" all in one PC running Maxsea Timezero though. I would have it drop down on VESA mount off the cuddy cabin ceiling and would be visible from almost anywhere.
