After reading Ben's article today, I attempted downloading the update to my copy of Marine East (current version is 5.0.4).
Oddly, iTunes doesn't think that there is an update for this.
Do I have something mixed up here, or...?

Ah, answered my own question. The ipad app I have now must be a legacy app, and I would need to purchase HD, or switch to the Boating app...
(The update is listed in iTunes under Navionics HD page)...
