I have a em-trak B100 AIS transponder, this has got two NMEA 0183 ports (high/low speed) and one N2K port,
After applying the latest sw upgrade this transponder can share it's GPS data on the N2K netweork,
My Raymarine i70 displays pick up the data and give me a god position (is set to auto select source).
My Furuno NN3D MFD8 give me a totaly wrong position (not lat/lon=0).
I have disconnected the 0183 GPS from the MFD and configured it to get POS/COG/SOG from the AIS.
The response from Furuno is;
"My guess is the GPS data isn't fully NMEA 2000 compliant. We have seen equipment show up on the network but not have a proper product ID or properly meet NMEA 2000 to the point where NN3D will not use the data."
Anyone have any experience with this?
I have posted a support request with em-trak.
Hi Knut,
Sorry, but I don't think that your problem is unique to Em-Trak and I don't think that Class B transponders were meant to be used as primary GPS sensors. I'll explain the details later because I'm underway and need to look out for lobster trap bouys ;-()
