Interested in hearing thoughts on simple affordable ways to recieve weather info on a north atlantic cirumnavigation...
I thought i should add that i seek current weather info while sailing, and i will be sailing a refitted Bristol24 which may give an idea of affordable. New SSB or iridium cost more than the boat... thanks
I suspect that your most affordable option is a wide-band receiver for tuning in high seas forecasts and SSB/HAM weather nets.

If you poke around the SSB and HAM sections I think you can learn a lot about the frequencies in use and then you might check out Universal Radio for possible gear:
