How can I update my Raymarine p70 autopilot control head if I don't have a Raymarine MFD? The p70 is installed it into a Garmen nema 2000 network. My local West Marine has working E7D and a C97 on display that they said I could use for the update but their displays are not on a network (they just have the power connector wired). Can I just plug my p70 directly into the STng connector on the back of either the E7D or the C97 and then do the p70 update?

Sorry, no, the N2K/STng backbone must be powered no matter how small. What you'd need to take to the West Marine is a little backbone -- terminal, power drop, tee to p70, tee to either MFD, and final terminal.
At one point Raymarine talked about making an N2K SD Card updater, like Garmin has, but I don't think it ever materialized.
