Chaparral 89' ski-boat + Ipad3 + NMEA 2000

Vote 0 Votes

Hello Gentleman.

I own a small boat. It is a 1989 Chaparral 187 XL Limited 18' with the original Mercruiser 3.7 L and Alpha One Stern-drive. Whole mechanic are in perfect condition. I'm trying to redo all the interior upholstery and the dash area, some of my gauges are out off order and others don't work fine. So i decide to take then out as well.
I want to convert my "old/perfect" motor into NMEA 2000 system and have it available all the readings (instruments/navigation/controls) in my ipad. I don't sure if my explanation is good but some of you guys can help me with this issue. What i will need????????
I really appreciate it
Thank you very much in advance.

  • Well, what you're trying to do is not easy. Getting analog engine data to NMEA 2000 is challenging and translating NMEA 2000 to Ethernet/WiFi is just starting to happen. But all that said, Chetco Digital is the one company doing both, I think. They got in a little trouble with NMEA for their N2K to WiFi bridge but that problem is getting solved. More info here:
