I have NMEA 2000 compatible 2007 Crusader engines iconnected to a NMEA 2000 network and a Garmin 740s NMEA 2000 chartplotter ( No bridge between the engine and network - direct NMEA 2000 connection).
The engine guage information shows properly - except there are 8 alarms that continuously repeat on the 740s. The alarms just happen to match the errors in Field 12 of PGN 127489 which appear suspicious to me. Alarms start as soon as the engine ignition is turned on - engines do not have to be running. Of course alarms also occur when the engines are running.
Since the engines are off, the alarms are clearly in error. This leads me to think the problem is either in the 740s processing the NMEA 2000 data from the engine or the engine is setting Field 12 of the PGN incorrectly.
The errors are:
Bit 0: Warning Level 1
Bit 1: Warning Level 2
Bit 2: Power Reduction
Bit 3: Maintenance Needed
Bit 4: Engine Comm Error
Bit 5: Sub or Secondary Throttle
Bit 6: Neutral Start Protect
Bit 7: Engine Shutting Down
I don't have a way to capture the network data. (No Actisense unfortunately).
I'm wondering if anyone here has tried this implementation of Crusader to NMEA 2000 to Garmin. or has a recommendation on how to figure out the whether the problem is on the engine end of the Garmin end.
Thanks
I did this with 2008 Crusaders using Maretron JK100's. No problems.
