Ever since I first installed our Furuno NN3D 4kW 3.5' open array, it's made noise when spinning. The sound is kind of a medium pitch metallic scraping and is clearly audible on the flybridge underway. It sounds a bit like the sound I would associated with a dry bearing.
Can anyone tell me from experience whether this sound is typical?

We have noticed this noise as well and have been told it is normal. It is especially noticeable when the array is operating at close range/higher speed. If it is too annoying you can tell the Furuno MFD not to speed up the array at close range.
