USB and Bluetooth GPS receivers

Vote 0 Votes

Has anyone seen a critical review or tests of these gadgets? Prices (and number of channels) are all over the map. I would like to know:
what are the differences?
Why 60 channels?
Are some sensitive to physical orientation?
Are there that many different chip sets?
Is power consumption and issue?

  • Not an expert...some of the GPS sites review individual units.

We use them at work - several different USB ones, and I have bluetooth one. All are sufficient to place us on a geo-referenced airport taxi diagram on a Tablet PC within 50 feet or so.

My conclusion is if you are not trying to miss a daybeacon in the fog or survey a piece of land, they all provide pretty darn good positioning.
