HDS 3.0 Software is out!

New HDS software update available worldwide for download on Tuesday, May 11, 2010.

The new 3.0 software is a free download from the Lowrance website and is recommended for all HDS displays worldwide for enhancements in radar capabilities, systems monitoring functionality and more.

The 3.0 software MUST be installed to HDS to activate the new BR24 Broadband Radar� features.

Key HDS Update Enhancements

Broadband RadarAdvances - HDS 3.0 update improves on the newest, safest innovation in radar by expanding easy-to-use navigational viewing and safety features on the Lowrance BR24 Broadband Radar, including higher speed radar sweeps, MARPA, guard zones, and enhanced range discrimination.

Radar Enhancements - To utilize the latest 3.0 improvements, the BR24 and LRA radars should also be updated with the latest software.For complete Broadband functionality, BR24 must be updated to 2.9.270 or later.For MARPA functionality the LRA 1800 and LRA 2400 radars should be updated to 1.7.248 or later.Radar software updates are also available for free download from the Lowrance website.

Navionics� Charting Improvements - This latest HDS software update provides improvements to users of Navionics map cards with features such as boat trackline extension, Fish & Chips support, and the ability to hide wildlife sanctuary areas to view items critical to navigation. Text previously not rotating properly in all navigation modes has also been corrected.

DSS omni-BUS� - A new level of advanced technology to easily monitor boat systems is available with the HDS 3.0 software update. For boats equipped with HDS and DSS omni-BUS� systems, you now have visual and audible alerts when viewing fishfinder or chartplotter screens to easily monitor voltage, livewell and baitwell status, aerator and many more key systems to keep you in touch and on-top of your boat functions.

Roadside Retail Fuel Prices - Adds up-to-date fuel pricing to HDS with the LWX-1 satellite antenna and SIRIUS� marine weather subscription at no extra charge. A great convenience to trailer boater subscribers, the SIRIUS� Roadside Retail Fuel Prices feature gives a heads up on fuel prices wherever a boat is towed.

Restricted Languages - Beginning with the 3.0 release, new units manufactured for use in the America's region will have restricted functionality outside the region defined by 30 degrees west longitude and the International Date Line.Operation outside of this region, will cause the unit to operate in an English only mode.

Other Improvements - Other improvements available with HDS 3.0 download include improved LGC-4000 interoperability, a low voltage warning alarm, support for LORAN coordinates and XTF support for side scan sonar.Additional information is available in the release notes available on the Lowrance website.

    About the 2nd item:

    You can now filter (don't show) the following classes of vessels:

    • Hide all
    • Hide safe (defined elsewhere, depends on TCPA/CPA)
    • Hide further than x nm
    • Hide slower than x mph

    Note no Hide Class B capability ;-)
