Does anyone know whether the Garmin 4/5000 series plotters now accept NMEA2000 wind / depth / speed data?
Reading on this forum it appears that the early deliveries / early firmware could only understand engine data and not wind/depth/speed.

Found the answer by digging a bit deeper on the Garmin site. Evidently formware revision 3.0 added support for new categories of NMEA2000 data, including Navigation, GPS, Fuel, Depth, Water Speed, and Temperature
Right. Garmin has really committed to NMEA 2000 over the last couple of years. Most of their MFDs and even small plotters support all sorts of PGNs now, and have good N2K diagnostic and management screens.
