I have a new batch of Furuno hardware on the way but only have a 12V PSU on hand. What do you all (Ben, Kees, I'm lookin' at you!) use as a power supply when you are testing equipment on the bench before taking it onto the boat?
Since I don't think voltage accuracy is too important I'd prefer not to spend too much. All suggestions appreciated.
Thanks!

What's wrong with your 12V PSU?
It depend a bit on how far you want to go. A real bench power supply that can limit the output current (can be very useful when you don't trust your connections) will run you about $100, for example: http://export.farnell.com/tenma/72-8345/power-supply-1-36vdc-0-3a/dp/1573427
I am a hoarder, so I have a big storage box full of power supplies from deceased electronics. That's what I personally use, to be honest, except for the 24V DIN Rail supply that I have to test run PLCs. Industrial PLCs generally use 24V instead of 12V, and my 2nd hand box didn't contain anything over 19V. I found one that served my purpose (1A @ 24V) for 23,= (about $30), see this site:

Note that is not a convenient store to buy from if you are US based so I did a quick search for you with what I have in mind:

Hope this helps,

Adam,
I am not sure if you mean you run from 12V and want 24V out. If you have AC 100V to 250V, you can use this DIN mount supply,
http://www.icpdas-usa.com/products.php?PID=238
It's probably way late for Adam, but I've gotten good service from this MJM 12v supply:
http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/hamps/3286.html
It offers all sorts of outputs, though I've settled on PowerPoles as my preferred power connectors, and I like how I can use the voltage control to see how gear reacts to low power.
I'm not so sure your request but I think this is a trustful din rail switching mode power supply service.
