Bendix Photo-Electric Pilot. 45-12

Vote 0 Votes

I read Bens post about the Wood Freeman, months ago. I came back to post, that, I could really use some help here.

My 1955, CC Commander, came with a Bendix, Photo-Electric Pilot, Model 45-12.

The 12 stands for 12-volts.

My system works on calm flat days, and I only use it for the wow affect, for newbies on-board.

But I have been searching for about a year, for some leads to service manuals or tech sheets, with absolutly no luck.

Although I have purchased off e-bay, actual ad's for it, thats as far as I can get.

I have been able to connect some dots....
So far, I have found that...

From 1936 until 1952, it was manufactured by ...
The Photo-Electric Pilot Corporation.1306 A Street, Tacoma, WA

In 1952,....
Pacific Division of Bendix Aviation, aquires the above company, and moved it to North Hollywood, Marine Division.

I also spotted it on the Barn Find, 1953 Commander, but unfortunately, Mitch confirmed there was no information with the unit.

So please keep me in mind, if you come across anything in the future.

I've also tried...
Mariners Museum, nada.
SF Maritime Museum, nada.
Benmar Marine, nada.
WoodFreeman, nada.
HenryFord Musuem.
Library of Congress.

Benmar handles the model 14/16, and doesn't have anything on this model., never heard of it.
The Wood Freeman comes close, but it's not the same.
And they never heard of it.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions, as to where I can locate some info on this unit.

Thanks
Tim
