I'm new to this domain and have a question that hopefully someone can answer for me. I'm working on something where I need to be able to access NMEA 2000 compliant engine data from within a running Java application. Has anyone done this? Would the use of the Maretron USB100 and some serial port reading code in Java give me access to the NMEA 2000 data stream or would I need some software from Maretron to do this?

Chris, I don't think that's easily done now, but for some time NMEA has been promising an "Intelligent Gateway" that might do the trick:
