Why you should know about Woot

Lowrance_iFinder_Map_-26_Music_GPSWoot sells one product a day, either until it’s sold out or the next day comes along. Shipping is always $5, and the sales pitch is usually a riot. Today’s deal is a Lowrance iFinder handheld mapping GPS, similar to the one I’ve been trying, for $140. Good machine, excellent price I think.

Hey, I find it interesting and potentially troubling that there do not seem to be any rocks displayed in any of the Lowrance NautiPath screen shots (http://www.lowrance.com/Mapping/NauticPath/default.asp). Hmmmmmmm.

And if anyone is considering this purchase, take a look at REI Outlook (link included) where you can get a similar unit (not music, alas) but street maps and cables so a better overall package deal at $195. Keep in mind that neither one of these are technically waterproof.

Good points, Dave, thanks. The iFinder Explorer I have here is "Waterproof to IPX7 standard"; I didn't realize the earlier ones weren't. I have asked Lowrance if the rock display is a known issue, but haven't heard back.
